- General rules
- Avoid sexual contact for (usually) 7 days after treatment administered
- Advise no sex with partners from the last 2 weeks (Chancroid) before symptoms to 6 months (Chlamydia and most others) before symptoms until partners tested and treated if neccessary
- Contact tracing
- Provide with fact sheets
- Notify state/territory health departments
- Set review period for symptom resolution and if needed re-testing, as well as to confirm partner tracing and further counselling or sexual health

Chlamydia trachomatis
– Males: First Pass Urine NAAT, MSM for ano-rectal swab and pharyngeal swab
– Females: Endocervical swab NAAT if examined, self collected vaginal swab if not, ano-rectal swab if symptoms or has had anal sex
Treatment:
1. Uncomplicated genital: Doxycycline 100mg PO BD 7/7 OR Azithromycin 1g PO stat
2. If ano-rectal infection: Doxycyline 100mg PO BD 7/7 if unsymptomatic, or 21/7 if anal symptoms, OR Azithromycin 1g PO stat, repeat in 1 week

– Females: Endocervical swab NAAT if examined, self collected vaginal swab if not, ano-rectal swab if symptoms or has had anal sex
Treatment:
1. Uncomplicated genital and ano-rectal infections: Ceftriaxone 500mg IMI stat in 2ml 1% lignocaine PLUS Azithromycin 1g PO stat
2. Uncomplicated pharyngeal infections: Ceftriaxone 500mg IMI stat in 2ml 1% lignocaine PLUS Azithromycin 2g PO stat
3. Adult gonoccocal conjunctivitis: Ceftriaxone 500mg IMI stat in 2ml 1% lignocaine PLUS Azithromycin 1g PO stat
Treatment advice:
